The rise of electric vehicles

Things are charging up in Cambridge, and all of us at Electric Blue are feeling energised! Since the launch of our charger network in June 2018, our chargers have delivered a whopping energy total, equating to 98,014 miles.

Not only is the usage of the charger network increasing week on week, but the network itself is growing. The original locations of Adam & Eve and Arbury Court car parks have since been joined by a further two rapid chargers in Newmarket Road.

Our three charging locations, with two chargers each, are available for taxis only. Find the Electric Blue charge points using the network filter on ZapMap.

So now, Cambridge electric vehicle (EV) taxi drivers can take to the roads confidently, knowing that they are never far from a charging point. The security of greater options in charging locations, has seen an increase of electric taxis – from a lonely 1 in June 2018, to an impressive 20 presently.

With the continued growth of the charger network, and the steady rise of EV drivers, now’s the time to show your commitment to cleaner air for Cambridge. We are offering the opportunity to invest in the Cambridge charger network, allowing local communities to be a part of greater improvements for their environment. Check out our ethical Bond offer here, and find out how you can get involved.

But just how do EVs benefit us as individuals, and as a community? EV and Me explains the reasons why we are encouraging the uptake of EVs across the country, particularly in busy urban centres such as Cambridge. To further develop the electrification of Cambridge’s streets, why not show your support of Electrify Cambridge? As passengers, taxi customers, local businesses and suppliers, you can all do your bit and join the movement for better public health.

You can join the conversation using #ElectricRevolution and keep up to date with all of our news #WhileYouCharge. Let’s bring the (clean) power back to the people!

As of 30th June 2019 our Ethex bond offer is closed. Thank you for all of the support from local community and investors who raised over £480,000 for the Cambridge charger network. We will be publishing a full report on our project work in Cambridge, including the community investment offer and the development of the charger network, so stay tuned for updates to come in the not-too-distant future.
